Amp'd Mobile was a mobile phone service launched in the US in 2005. The company was a Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) in that it didn't have it's own wireless network but piggy-backed on Verizon. It was a media-focused offering, targeting youth and early adopters, and backed heavily by MTV and Universal Music Group. In early 2007, Canadian network Telus launched a service in the Great White North, but a few months later, with financial problems shutting down the American services, Telus announced that it would close Amp'd Mobile Canada.
